One of the greatest resources that the Friends of International
Education offer is the extensive network of resources that support
international education. This page should offer something for

Asia
Society
The Asia
Society collaborates with numerous other organizations
to promote the study of international education. Their website
contains numerous resources. Visit their website.
Capitol
Forum on America's Future
The
Capitol Forum on America's Future is is a civic education
initiative that engages high school students in discussion of
current international issues. The program involves students
both within their social studies classroom and beyond the classroom
at their state capitol. The Capitol Forum is an annual program
of Choices Education Program
at the Watson
Institute for International Studies, Brown University.
Global
Educator Graduate Certificate Program
University of Wisconsin Oshkosh Educator Graduate Certifcate Program is a 16-18 credit graduate degree program that can be directly applied into a master's of science degree in Educational Leadership.
Global
Educators Program
The Global
Educators Program provides opportunities for pre-K through
post-secondary educators to team-teach alongside colleagues
around the world for three to four weeks.
Global Environmental Teaching Program (GET)
The Global Environmental Teachings Program (GET) is a non-profit organization dedicated to the advancement of global environmental literacy. Participants learn how others interact with their environment while gaining a different perspective on environmental, political, and social issues. The GET website contains information on programs in China, Puerto Rico, South Africa, and Wisconsin. Included is information on our upcoming online courses. Global
Studies Summer Institute
The Global
Studies Summer Institute (GSSI), sponsored by the Center
for International Education (CIE), is a four-day program
intended to provide K-12 educators with information and resources
for teaching students about contemporary international issues
and their practical applications for the classroom. The Global
Studies Summer Institute features informative lectures by university
experts as well as presentations by current teachers highlighting
practical approaches to integrating the theme of the Institute
into your classroom.
Model
United Nations
The Model
United Nations encourages students to step into the shoes
of ambassadors from U.N. members states to debate current issues
on the organization's vast agenda. Student "delegates"
in Model U.N. prepare draft resolutions, plot strategy, negotiate
with supporters and adversaries, resolve conflicts, and navigate
the U.N.'s rules of procedures - all in the interest of mobilizing
"international cooperation" to resolve problems that
affect almost every country onEarth.
Strategies
for Teaching East Asia
The Strategies
for Teaching East Asia seminar is a 30 contact hour program
for secondary (6-12) teachers of social studies, geography,
or language arts that is organized by the UWM Center for International
Education, and supported by the National Consortium for Teaching
about Asia through a grant from the Freeman Foundation.
Participating
teachers commit to attending 5-6 workshops sessions and completing
two lesson plans for submission to NCTA. In return, teachers
who successfully complete the program will receive a professional
stipend, approximately $450 worth of resources, and have the
opportunity to compete for summer study tours to East Asia.
Wisconsin International Outreach Consortium
WIOC is an abbreviation for the Wisconsin International Outreach Consortium. WIOC's mission is to share resources and to collaboratively support international education and global awareness.
World
Affairs Challenge
The World
Affairs Challenge is an innovative academic competition
in international relations. Teams of middle and high school
students compete in three different events that test their analytical
and presentation skills and their knowledge of world events.
Developed by the Center for
Teaching International Relations at the University of Denver,
the World Affairs Challenge is now expanding across the country.

World
Affairs Seminar
The
World Affairs Seminar at UW-Whitewater is a personalized
educational program held during the second week of June each
summer for selected high school students to learn about the
customs, traditions, aspirations and heritage of people from
around the globe through personal association with other young
people from foreign countries.
